Lookie, more pics of the kittens. Now at 28 hours old. I recorded some video with my digital camera, but it’s not very good. Might not post it all. Enjoy kitties.

Our neighbor took in a fluffy cat a while back, who was a stray. It quickly turned out that the fluffball was pregnant. Today, she had her kittens. Six little tiny balls of joy. I think we’re going to be adopting the one with the white legs. Enjoy kitten pictures!

Even now, 5 hours later, my feet are sandy. This afternoon I stepped into the pacific ocean and returned a portion of my father’s ashes to the earth. I’ve never been solid with organized religion, but something happened that although it could just be a coincidence, seemed to be magical.

Lainie, my dad’s girlfriend found a whole and intact sand dollar. Shortly thereafter, I found two of them. We each found one, except for Tiffany, my dad’s life-long friend, and my brother’s girlfriend Jen. I found three myself. We each took a handful of ashes and stepped into the ankle deep waves. I walked out farther than anyone else, and set mine into the waves. Tiffany let hers into the water and as soon as the wave swallowed the ash, a sand dollar washed up right in front of her. The same happened to Jen. We all left the beach with a complete sand dollar. I remarked that it was hardly a fair trade, but I think we all felt that we had been smiled on.

The service is tomorrow morning. We still have a lot of work to do in preparation, so I will go now. Good night, and I hope everyone out there has a peaceful and pleasant weekend.

I updated the top graphic, and will probably do so again soon. I got a few sunflowers in the ground, and I think they are going to hold their own. We should be beyond the frost now. (But I’m sure Chicago thought that too.) I had to go through and pick a picture for my dad’s obit. I got a few really good ones from Christmas a few years ago that I had reprinted. I may add a photo section to the page soon. We’ll see.

Looks like it’s going to rain today. It’s going to be a quiet day at home as far as I can tell. I’ve already spent the morning cleaning the kitchen, doing laundry, dishes, and transplanting seedlings into pots. My sunflowers are going to be huge this year. Our neighborhood is kind of slummy so I’m planning on taking 3 or so sunflowers and potting them in front of the living room window. Keeps a touch of shade, and keeps nosy people from looking in.

I want to hit the gym by 1:30, so I gotta get back to cleaning. Hope everyone has a lovely Easter.

I just wanted to take a second to say thanks to everyone out there who has been supportive of the family in the last week. There’s not enough space on the internet to name all the names, so just one big collective thank you. The service is going to be next saturday, due to Easter.

Also, I have recently been inspired to start shooting film again. I think I’ll go out and bust a few rolls in the next 2 weeks. If I get something good, I will post it. I have also thought about posting a few classic pics. Maybe I’ll even start a photo gallery on the site again. Time will tell. My internship is taking a bit of my time, but Im loving every minute of it. (and as a coincidence, Loverboy’s “Lovin Every Minute Of It” was on the XM on the way to the PD the other day.)

Everyone gathered at my apartment to throw me a birthday party anyway. I think it was what everyone needed. The girls prepared everything in semi-secret while I went with Joe and my brother to play golf. it’s going to be difficult but I think we’re all healing.

I have too much to do this week on top of that. I started my internship with the Police Department and it’s going to occupy some of my idle time. Unfortunately, everything else wants to occupy that time as well.
