So I can now finally say I have been to Universal Studios. We started at the Museum of Horrors, which freaked Nikki out, big time. She was curled up into a little ball almost crying. To be fair, the wolfman did jump out at her and tap her on the shoulder.
Then we went on the new Simpsons motion simulator ride. It was really cool, and had the best line of any of the rides, mostly because they play all kinds of simpsons clips on the lcd tvs. It really does feel like you are riding a real rollercoaster.

Jurassic Park was cool, but they completely soak you if you are in the front of the boat. I was not expecting to get that wet. Luckily, we dried off in the hour-long line for The Mummy ride. The ride was too short really, but it was fun.

After that, we went on the studio tour, which would have included the King Kong part, had it not burned down earlier this year. They have all kinds of movie sets around the place, including the cabin from The Great Outdoors, the Bates Motel, and a whole bunch of others.
The Shrek 4-D movie was neat, but i could have done with a tad less water in my face when Donkey sneezed. All in all, it was a really fun day. Accepting expensive food and a little sunburn (Even Nikki got some color) as the norm, the only real drawback was the bathroom situation there. Eww.

First, our flight from San Francisco to Burbank was canceled. Once we got to SF, we were told, “we can send you to LAX instead, but it’s boarding now.” We were on that flight. Our luggage, not so much. Hours and hours later, we got our luggage back and headed out.

Tuesday we did very little. There was much lounging, and we got to see The Dark Knight. I’d give it about 4 1/2 stars. Pretty good flick, if not a tad long.

We went down to San Diego today and visited with Nikki’s family. Her grandma is the funniest little old lady.

EDIT: I’ll post more later, when I can, including some pictures from the trip. I’m running out of battery on my macbook and I’m using the wifi connection from the McDonalds parking lot in front of Disneyland.

Tonight we had the National Night Out Kickoff Event. It was a long day of working for free in the hot sun with no sunblock and no lunch break until hour 7. I dragged Nikki out to it as well and volunteered her. It was also the culmination of a lot of work that I did from August to April to get ready for it, and help get all of the auction goods, etc. It’s a good time to mention that joining your local Neighborhood Watch is a good idea. Seriously, There’s no better way to make sure you don’t become a victim than taking a proactive step against it. Think about it.

So as of this week, I will have turned in something like 6 more job applications. I’ve gotta find something decent before the end of August for sure. Let’s just hope I get a few hits on some of this batch. I’m dying to break in my new job interview suit.

Had to hop servers. Thanks to Ari’s deft maneuvers, we were able to get everything up and running again with very minimal downtime. Not that anyone would ever notice. With that out of the way… 12 days until I get to head back to Sunny California!
I got Tim and Ann’s wedding gift all sent out, and we’re having Ben and Sheena watch the hound for a week. The kitties will be taken care of at home. All hands on deck, set sail for In-N-Out Burger!

On the streets. The heat is . . . . ON. On the 2nd day in a row, it’s slated to get into the 90s. Yesterday was great, because though it was hot, there was little humidity. I could have stayed outside all day. I really can’t wait for school to be over. I’m just imagining a 40 hour work week. It’s a glorious thing.

I was thinking about what it’s going to be like to have a two-day weekend again. I haven’t had one in almost a year now. I find that I don’t have any problem getting up for work early during the summer, and I have less problem getting up on my days off. I have a lot of projects that I want to get done this summer, but it doesn’t seem many of them are on track. I’m thinking the air conditioner is the easy one, but by the time I get it installed properly, it will be time to take it down. At least I washed my car once this year. I may do it again tonight after work.

20 days until we go to LA for Tim’s wedding. 39 days until graduation.
